The Town of Wasaga Beach is a seeking reliable, self-motivated team player to perform the duties of Parks Labourer. 

The primary focus of this position is the day to day maintenance, repair and supervision of Town parks, sports fields, open spaces, facilities and equipment under the Public Works and Parks Department.  Additional assistance may be provided in horticultural and special events activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of a secondary school diploma or equivalent and completion of, or enrollment in, a horticulture or turf management program and/or significant experience preferred;
  • Previous experience, and a proven ability, to carry out parks maintenance, equipment and machinery repairs, and janitorial duties, considered an asset;
  • Previous horticulture and arborist experience considered an asset;
  • Good understanding of Safe Operating Procedures of power tools, turf maintenance equipment and associated parks equipment;
  • Requires an unrestricted valid class “G” Ontario Driver’s License and an appropriate drivers abstract and criminal record check upon hired;
  • Standard First Aid certification, CPR and WHIMIS training considered an asset;
  • Physically able to perform all duties, including heavy lifting and ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions;
  • Reliable and able to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays and have the ability to work overtime on short notice; 
  • Good organizational and decision making skills and have the ability to work both independently and as a team member;
  • A proven ability to deal with the public and other staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
NOTE:  - A Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 3115 is in place

Hourly rate - $24.38 (2024 rate)
