The Town of Wasaga Beach is now accepting resumes for summer seasonal employment (May until September 2024) for the position of Public Works Labourers.

Responsibilities include: roadside and beachfront litter collection; collection of garbage and recycling materials from bins; inspecting storm catch basins, storm outlets, storm ponds and trail systems; tree and brush clean-up; painting fire hydrants, sewer stacks, sign posts and building structures; assisting in beach front clean-up; and other Public Works related duties, such as maintenance of municipal roads.

Qualifications:
  • Preference will be given to those registered in a full-time secondary/post-secondary program in the next academic year;
  • Must have public relations & communication skills;
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts; including days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays;
  • Be physically capable of performing the duties of the position with the ability of heavy lifting and withstand extreme weather conditions;
  • Experience in roads maintenance activities and ability in using hand tools considered an asset;
  • Possess valid First Aid and CPR certificates preferably;
  • Valid Class “G” Ontario drivers’ license preferred;
  • Able to provide an appropriate criminal records check and drivers’ abstract upon hire;
  • Possess strong knowledge of the Town of Wasaga Beach;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Hourly Range: $17.68 - $18.27; 40 hours/week
