The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated professional to join our team as Landscape Architect to provide coverage during the incumbent’s leave of absence until March 2027.
General Responsibilities:
The Landscape Architect will deliver a wide range of services, including:
- Providing landscape architectural expertise to internal departments, ensuring consultation and successful delivery of parks and landscape planning initiatives, development projects, and capital works.
- Conducting technical reviews of planning applications, development proposals, and capital projects from landscape architecture, urban design, and development coordination perspectives.
- Preparing professional assessments and recommendations in compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal regulations, policies, guidelines, and standards.
- Leading and contributing to diverse projects such as:
- New and existing park development
- Streetscape reconstruction and urban design
- Waterfront development
- Sports field design
- Playground and spray pad design
- Recreational trails
- Interpretive panels, graphic design, and other unique assignments
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or equivalent education approved by the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects (OALA); eligible for Full Membership with Seal in OALA.
- Proven experience as a Landscape Architect in a municipal or consultant/design setting.
- Experience in urban design considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of current practices in parks, urban forestry, horticulture, ecological restoration, and landscape construction, including sustainable design principles, native plant use, innovative materials, stormwater management, and integration of built facilities with landscapes.
- Ability to prepare landscape plans, presentation graphics, written reports, and cost estimates.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications (Microsoft Office, CAD, databases, mapping, presentation graphics).
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills; ability to engage professionally with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Passion for creating resilient, accessible, and aesthetically pleasing public spaces.
- Knowledge of arboriculture practices is an asset.
- Valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s License, access to a personal vehicle for site visits, and acceptable driver’s abstract and criminal record check.
- Ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively to a service-oriented team.

Annual Salary (35 hours per week): $ 102,029.20 - $ 119,355.60
