The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking an energetic and self-motivated team player to perform the duties and responsibilities of the Municipal Law Enforcement Supervisor.
General Responsibilities: This supervisory position provides daily operational direction, support, and leadership to Municipal Law Enforcement Officers, Property Standards Officers, and seasonal staff. The role ensures effective enforcement of municipal by‑laws, with a focus on property standards, zoning compliance, inspections, and special projects. Responsibilities include coordinating field deployment, overseeing parking enforcement technology and processes, supporting priority investigations, and assisting with staff training, scheduling, and onboarding. The position promotes a customer‑focused, education‑first approach to achieving consistent and fair by‑law compliance.

Under the direction of the Manager, the Supervisor provides day-to-day operational supervision, support, and leadership to Municipal Law Enforcement Officers, Property Standards Officers, and seasonal staff. This position ensures the effective enforcement of municipal By-laws, with a particular focus on property standards, zoning compliance, compliance inspections, and special projects.
The Supervisor oversees the Town’s parking enforcement technology and processes, attends and supports high-priority investigations, coordinates field deployment, ensures procedural accuracy and file quality, and assists with training, scheduling, and the orientation of new and seasonal staff. The role supports a customer-focused approach to By-law compliance, emphasizes education, and promotes consistent, fair enforcement practices aligned with legislation and Town policy.
Two (2) years previous related job experience, one (1) year on the job. Minimum three (3) years total relevant experience.
Physical Demands: The job may occasionally require lifting light materials (e.g., files, documents, small equipment) and extended periods of computer use. There may be infrequent physical demands during field inspections or when setting up parking equipment.
Normal Hours of Work: Normal hours of work will be thirty-five (35) hours per week. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary to support officers outside of regular hours, including evenings and weekends, especially during emergencies or special events.
Physical Environment: Primarily office-based with a controlled indoor environment. Occasional exposure to outdoor conditions during site inspections or fieldwork, which may include inclement weather, noise, or unsanitary conditions depending on the nature of the complaint or inspection.
Sensory Attention: High level of sensory attention is required for reviewing documents, conducting inspections, and interacting with the public. Requires focused attention to detail when preparing legal documents, reviewing evidence, and analyzing Bylaw compliance issues.
Stress: Moderate to high. The role involves managing public complaints, enforcing regulations, supervising staff, and handling sensitive or contentious matters. Time-sensitive tasks, high public visibility, and after-hours responsibilities contribute to stress levels.

- Completion of a two (2) year post-secondary diploma in Law and Security, Police Foundations, Public Administration, or a related field
- Thorough working knowledge of applicable legislation including the Municipal Act, Building Code Act, Provincial Offences Act, Dog Owners’ Liability Act, and related municipal By-laws.
- Strong understanding of property standards enforcement procedures and applicable legal frameworks
- Experience preparing and reviewing enforcement documentation, court packages, and evidence briefs
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and supervisory experience in a municipal or regulatory enforcement environment
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with members of the public, elected officials, and external agencies
- Strong decision-making and conflict resolution skills
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, enforcement software, ticketing platforms, and electronic records systems
- Valid Class “G” Driver’s License and Driver’s Abstract in good standing
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and operate relevant equipment
- Acceptable Criminal Record, Vulnerable Sector and Police Record Name Check as condition of employment
- Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including nights, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays, if required.
